What I Didn't Say by Keary Taylor

What I Didn't Say by Keary Taylor
YA Realistic Fiction/Romance
Rating: 4 Stars

Getting drunk homecoming night your senior year is never a good idea, but Jake Hayes never expected it all to end with a car crash and a t-post embedded in his throat.
His biggest regret about it all? What he never said to Samantha Shay. He's been in love with her for years and never had the guts to tell her. Now it's too late. Because after that night, Jake will never be able to talk again.
When Jake returns to his small island home, population 5,000, he'll have to learn how to deal with being mute. He also finds that his family isn't limited to his six brothers and sisters, that sometimes an entire island is watching out for you. And when he gets the chance to spend more time with Samantha, she'll help him learn that not being able to talk isn’t the worst thing that could ever happen to you. Maybe, if she'll let him, Jake will finally tell her what he didn't say before, even if he can't actually say it.

My Thoughts: I loved this book. I literally just had a bad moment in my life pertaining to guys so I was not excited to read a romance novel but when I started reading I couldn't stop. I got trapped in this book. I cannot imagine having something like that happen to me or anyone I know. You do everything with your voice. Personally I would hate the fact I couldn't sing anymore. Now Jake, he couldn't say "I love you" to the girl he loved. That must have killed. Sam was a very interesting character. Strong but at the same time weak. She built up these walls to protect herself and she needed Jake to help bring them down. Sucks that it takes an accident like that to make them all see that.
I think what I loved most about this book was the feeling. Keary was so good with the words and made me feel everything. I literally fell into this book without even trying. Usually when you are broken hearted you don't want to read things like this but it actually made me feel better. It gives me hope.
Amazing book. A definite must read.

Branded by Keary Taylor

Branded (Fall of Angels #1) by Keary Taylor

Fantasy

Rating: 4 Stars

Jessica's had the nightmares for as long as she can remember. Nightmares of being judged for people who have died, of being branded by the angels. Her friends and family think she's a crazy because of it all. Yet she carries the mark of the condemned, seared into the back of her neck, and hides it and herself away from the world.

But when two men she can't ignore enter her life everything changes, including the nightmares. The two of them couldn't be more different. She will do anything to be with one of them. Even tell him the truth about angels, why she never sleeps, and the scar on the back of her neck. But one of the two has set events into motion what will puller her toward her own judgment and turn her into the object of her greatest fear.
First Thoughts: This was another book I found on sale for the NOOK app on my phone so I quickly downloaded it. The covers for this book are so awesome! There are two on goodreads.com and I just love them both. It was hard to pick which one to post but in the end I did.

Writing Style: I am running out of good things to say about the books I have read recently. I fell like I keep repeating myself all the time. I love Keary's writing. It was easy to fall into this story and I didn't have to force myself to read it.

Characters: Jessica is a great character. I instantly sympathized for her. It would suck to have to go through all that pain every time you fall asleep. She is definitely someone I could connect with. Alex seems like the perfect guy too. The instant connection between the two was obvious through the words, something I can understand.

Final Thoughts: You know what? I think angels are the new vampires. That isn't the first time I said that, I think I said that in the Hush, Hush review. Only because it's true. I am loving the angels right now. This definitely gave me my angel fix and I found out there is another one so I can't wait till I read that one.
