Purchase on Amazon: http://amzn.to/1A7JKkD

Zoey Daniels has been tossed from foster home to foster home, where she grows up fast and tough. When she is placed in her “last-chance” home, she finds a reason to stay and turn her life around: her foster sister, Lexie, who is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Zoey will do anything to keep her safe.

After high school, Zoey is hired by a special government agency, the Department of Molecular Genetics (DMG), where she meets the other reason to remain: Daniel, her co-worker. The man she loves. But there is something unique about Zoey. She can see fae. Because of this, the DMG hires her to work as a Collector: catching, researching, testing, and using the fae to save human lives. The work never registers on her sympathy radar. She was raised to think of fae as beasts that feed on humans and want to destroy them. When devastation hits Seattle, Zoey's whole world is turned upside down. The electric storm connects her to a ruthless fae, a Wanderer named Ryker, whose dealings expose them to even more trouble and danger. They embark on a journey, running and hiding from both the government and fae, both of which threaten their lives and those they love.

My Thoughts: I have read some great books recently but this one stands out the most out of all of them. There is a lot of emotion that comes with this book. Relationships are not what they seem and packed full with betrayal. Those are the best because that is what keeps the readers on their feet. Nobody wants predictable, what they want to be surprised.
Breaking this down by section I have to start with the characters. At times, Zoey was not very likable to me but she grew to me. I think what bugged me the most is she was two people. Constantly throughout the book she was changing back and forth. She is the character we follow yet we know nothing about her and learn certain aspects as we follow along her story. Maybe that is for effect and maybe it’s not but either way I’m not complaining. She ended up being just the main character we needed. Ryker was kind of switches back and forth as well from bad guy to good guy but I can see the reasoning behind that one. He’s the enemy in Zoey’s life, who knew he would become an ally? Their relationship is a tricky one but it makes it makes for a good story.
This story is clearly more about Zoey than it is about Ryker but I am a bit disappointed we didn’t see more of Garrett and Amara. They were pretty important in the beginning but Garrett only popped up once only for nothing to happen. It left this untied feeling to the story. We found out what the DMG wants from Zoey but Ryker’s story never really gets fully told. Just gives me more of a reason to hold out and see what happens in the next one!
Overall, I actually enjoyed reading this one. I was nervous about it because fae stories usually don’t sit well with me but this one was nothing like the other ones I have read. It’s original and an amazing story. I’m glad I got to read this one before its release tomorrow. I hope everyone gets a chance to read it as well, you will not regret it.
