YA Realistic Fiction
Rating: 3 Stars
When Eddie Reeves’s father commits suicide her life is consumed by the nagging question of why? Why when he was a legendary photographer and a brilliant teacher? Why when he seemed to find inspiration in everything he saw? And, most important, why when he had a daughter who loved him more than anyone else in the world? When she meets Culler Evans, a former student of her father’s and a photographer himself, an instant and dangerous attraction begins. Culler seems to know more about her father than she does and could possibly hold the key to the mystery surrounding his death. But Eddie’s vulnerability has weakened her and Culler Evans is getting too close. Her need for the truth keeps her hanging on...but are some questions better left unanswered?
My Thoughts: What a depressing book. I defintely read this at the wrong time in my life. This book brought down my mood even more. Which at the same time can be a good thing. It just means that the writer did her job and did it very well. The emotions were there throughout the whole book. She really laid them on thick.
I truly sympathized for Eddie and her mother. I can't imagine what it would feel like losing a parent or loved one like that. I was in pain just by reading the words. Courtney is very good at writing with emotion that just brings you to tears.
The thing that makes me not like this book is I can't stand Eddie. I haven't expirenced that kind of life but to do the things she did it upsets me. Even more so what Culler did. She is one lucky girl to have Milo and Beth to look out for her. I would love to have people like that in my life.
