Prophecy of the Sisters is shelved

This is not a review, not even close. No matter how I tried, I could not finish this book. I don't think it's because of the writing or the story, I just couldn't get into it. You may understand how I feel or not but I am actually not happy that I couldn't finish it.
I am a stickler for finishing books. How can you judge a book without actually reading the thing entirely? It doesn't make sense to me. I don't hate this book I just couldn't read it.

There are many reasons to not read a whole book. For me, a big one would be if it is poorly written. You can't follow the book if you can't understand the book. An example of that would be Fifty Shades of Grey. The reason I loathe that book is because it got famous because of what it is about or the theory of how it came about instead of the value of the writing which is downright horrible. I just couldn't get through it because it irked me that more talented writers were getting passed up because of scrap paper like that.

This book however is nothing like that. There could be many reasons why I couldn't finish it. The writing is very formal and old style. The setting is very old and I'm more of a futuristic reader/writer. I couldn't connect with the character (which is odd because I am a twin and I am almost positive she is pure evil). No matter what it was I just couldn't do it.

So, for now Prophecy of the Sisters is getting shelved. I own the book so it will be there ready for me to pick up whenever I get the chance. On to the next one!

100th post!!! Welcome to 2013!

I know it's been awhile since I have posted anything on here but I swear I have a good excuse.

This year I participated in NaNoWrimo again. For those who don't know what that is NaNoWriMo.org stands for National Novel Writing Month which is celebrated in November. The website hosts a novel writing group and tracks your word count. The goal is to reach 50,000 words in one month, if you succeed you get good deals on well known writer software and publishing websites like createspace.com.

This would be my second year participating, last year I was short about 5,000 words. This year however, I succeeded. I am a NaNoWriMo Winner!

The novel is nowhere near being finished yet, I have so much to add and edit. When you are under pressure and trying to meet a deadline it's hard to get everything just right. I am really excited for this novel which is actually going to be part of a trilogy and can't wait to share it with you all.

So, after taking the month of December off from writing and reading I am ready to jump right back in. I have some fun stuff planned this year. I didn't make my Goodreads goal of 50 books so this year I will use the same goal and maybe I can make it. Either way, reading at least one book is a good thing. Congratulations to all those who did reach their goals and good luck for 2013!
